Evidence Policy
The rules that govern how claims about robots and manufacturers are sourced, graded and presented.
1. Evidence before promotion
Every commercial and technical claim in the catalogue is connected to a traceable source. Claims that cannot be sourced are marked as unverified — they are not silently presented as fact.
2. Accepted sources
- Official manufacturer specifications and documentation;
- recorded public demonstrations and credible third-party coverage;
- documented deployments and customer references;
- direct manufacturer confirmation, attributed and dated.
3. Unknown does not mean unavailable
The catalogue distinguishes explicitly between four states that are often conflated:
- Missing evidence — the claim may be true, but we cannot yet source it;
- Unavailable — the product cannot currently be obtained;
- Immature — the product exists but is not ready for the claimed use;
- Non-commercial — the product is research-only or not for sale.
4. Confidence grading
Sourced claims carry a confidence level reflecting the strength and independence of their evidence. Grading criteria are published alongside the catalogue on HumanoidOnline.
5. Neutrality
Verification status, rankings and comparison outcomes cannot be purchased or influenced by commercial relationships. See the Editorial Policy.
6. Challenges and corrections
Manufacturers and readers may challenge any claim by submitting counter-evidence via the contact form under the Manufacturer profile category. Challenges are reviewed against the same sourcing standards.
